Further Explanation of Changes

It has come to my attention that some folks may be confused as to why certain changes have been made to the way we get fuel, and accounting for supplies. The reason for our fueling process changing, has nothing to do with the honesty of our personnel. The reason is because there has been repeated accounting errors to our fuel budget. Because of this, it has extremely affected our budget and was causing us shortfalls on funding. The whole process of fuel accounting at the conoco and even at the camp fuel pumps, had no sure fire way of accounting for our fuel. Swithcing to the fuel cards that we are now using, puts all the monitoring and control in our hands and allows us to only be billed for what we use and not other departments billed to our budget. Yes we are and will strictly monitor the usage and will be quick to address wrong doing. The money we spend is tax payer money and it is our duty to be sure that all spending of it is only honest. The reason for the tighter accounting and control of supplies is a product of  a strained economy. With the county budget being as tight as it is, we have no choice but to pinch pennies and cut all waste. I do understand that most of the missing supplies are more than likely just oversight by personnel in forgetting to write down what supplies they get. This is still a problem and I ask everyone to please correct this problem. I do not want anyone at this department to feel uninformed or as if they are not appreciated. Please know that everyones opinion is important and is always taken into consideration, even if the decision we make isnt always what folks want to hear. Everyone please take extra care to conserve anything and everything as much as possible and account for what supplies are gotten. Please keep in mind that the money we save is our jobs we save. Thank you very much for all that you do!
